Seasons of the Singing Heart is an on-going series of seasonal weekends combining Indian Raga with body and breath work. It is developed from the weekend workshops Song of the Yearning Heart. We will create together a sanctuary to honour our yearning hearts. We will use Indian classical Raga and ‘First Nature’ body/breath work to help us surrender and release to cellular, ecstatic, healing resonance and profound connection with ourselves, each other and the universe. Yearning is the soul’s longing for its true home, finding it’s true expression through the heart. For many of us, this yearning is masked by addictions and frustration and by a lack of space and place to honour it. We will explore this journey in simple yet profound ways through sound and silence, singing and hearing, moving and breathing.

Who is it for?Anyone who longs to sing from a place of deep connection. Maybe you feel you can’t sing but would like to. Or maybe you have done lots of singing but want to go deeper. Or you feel something is missing, or there are physical or emotional blocks that limit your full, resonant voice. Or it could be that you would like to sing in a space that is really nurturing, heart-centred, and can support you throughout the different moods and seasons of life and year. Who we are: Suekali is a passionate explorer in the realm of singing through the body, from the heart and in the Spirit. Her background includes 20 years study and experience of singing Indian classical raga, trainings in western classical music (Bachelor of Music), ‘First Nature’ body and breath work, and creative arts therapy. She is deeply committed to a spiritual path that is about becoming fully human, and celebrating the whole of life in all its wild and raw dimensions.

Judy Lewis is a First Nature coach and experienced healer, whose work rests in the understanding that, by simply being with what is, we can come home to ourselves. Her background includes cranio-sacral therapy, colour healing and mindfulness-based practices. She brings a commitment to finding ways to help heal what is broken in us, to reconnect and inspire.

Structure and Content Weekends (friday evening, Sat and Sun) in each season of the year, Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter. Attendance at all four is highly recommended in order to follow the seasons through the year, however, each workshop is also ‘stand-alone’.

This is gentle and profound work inspired by Indian classical raga, focusing on developing full resonance within our own bodies, and deep connection with our hearts. Suitable for those new to Indian raga or those wanting to deepen their connection and awareness.

Subtle yet powerful exercises, practices and understandings from ‘First Nature’ – an approach to voice work that integrates the physical, energetic and spiritual dimensions and helps us uncover our original, natural way of being and singing.

Heart-based performance; the opportunity and support to sing to others from the heart, from a place of ease, connection and confidence. Sharing different types of songs from a variety of traditions and genres.

A shared and nurturing sanctuary to honour yearning through song, silence, breath and body work. This sanctuary will be built during the weekends and sustained in between the workshops through group and individual practice and the support of the workshop facilitators.

Grounding and integration of the singing and body/breath work into our own culture and personal heritage through a focus on the four seasons. This will involve work with nature in its raw reality and its rich symbolism.
