Rajeswar Bhattacharya was born in 1943 in Kolkata and studied at Gitabitan music school. He also studied classical music under Ramesh Banerjee and then Malabika Kannan. He continued his studies of Tagore music with Kanak Biswas.
In 1972, founded his own music school, `Rabimallar'. Over two hundred and forty students are now registered in this school.
Rajeswar is now established as a leading exponent of Tagore music in Bengal renowned for both the depth of his interpretation due to his classical background, and also his willingness to experiment and innovate.
This year he received two prestigious awards for his outstanding contribution to the music of Tagore.
He has released many cassettes and a CD of his work.
